What is the big deal with the Japanese and their first kiss?!

Question: I have watched a lot of anime and a read a good amount of manga and it seems like their first kiss is almost a religous experience how much they want to save it. One manga I was reading, when the girl had her first kiss by a guy she didnt like she felt sick and started crying that she lost her first kiss. The females of the stories seem to react much different than guys in the mangas. The men seem to think, "Wow that was my first kiss" and then they either move on or fall in love with that girl.

So whats the big deal with the first kiss? When I had my first kiss, I was like cool I have kissed someone. But then it was done. There was no heart stopping scene, etc. It felt good, it was fun and I enjoyed it.

(I understand that manga and anime exaggerate the reactions that people have to their first kisses, but still....)

Well in Japan relationships are sort of not spoken about. You never see couples in public kissing or being affectionate. Japanese people dont tend to show emotion a whole lot at home either. Its still quite formal in the household.
Most couples live at home with their parents, thats normal and if they want "relations", they go to love hotels just for the purpose. Even in dramas a kiss is more than it is over here.
So i guess it seems a big deal cause its not something thats so broad in their culture (unlike in western cultures where we are subjected to it a lot).

im guessing that in Japanese cultures things are taken MUCH more seriously. HOPE THIS HELPS!

it's an Asian culture. Western cultures promotes kissing but Asian does not. Touching people is a big deal in the East and kissing on the lips is a taboo to most Asian cultures. And it's not hard to live that way. It is a culture that has been embedded in Asia for thousands of years. PDA that is geared towards sexual innuendos are taboo in public, whther u are married or not.
