About the anime 'bleach"s name?!
Question: Hey does anyone actually know why the anime/manga 'bleach' is called bleach. Like..does it have some metaphorical meaning to do with the show (i've been watching it for about a year now), or is it some translation thing from japanese to english?

There is no official reason to why Bleach is called Bleach although there are a few theories put forward.
The First being that when Japanese people bleach their hair occasionally it doesn't go so well and goes Orange rather than Blonde.
Ichigo is attacked in one manga chapter by a guy claiming Ichigo stole his hair style (In fact the guy bleached his hair, Ichigo just had his normal hair).
The third being that the Shinigami "Bleach" the souls of the hollows and spirits sending them to the afterlife, cleansing them.
I think it means to cleanse the hollows or the ppl being sent to the soul society, its in the first volume of Bleach i think. But yea i think its about bleaching the hollows to good or something
i think it's because shinigami are cleaning world hollows and making world brighter with it, just like bleach..well that's what i think...
ok, if u directly translate bleach in japanese it means soul cleanser but they couldnt call it that, so they called it bleach
Well I thought the name was odd too when I first started to watch bleach. I thought someone was dying their hair! But they liked fighting or something. Come to find out it had substance than just any other typical anime. I also thought it was in reference to Ichigo's hair and that was the reason why he was being bullied. But I guess Bleach is more accurately described as cleansing the souls and sending them to soul society. It's quite ironic. I really love this anime. It has many characters and many plot development. And it is really complex characters. Never would have thought that would just come from the title of "Bleach"...fascinating...
it's because ichigo's inner hollow. he's all white, right? technically, he was bleached.
yeah, i know i've read like that somewhere...
i heard that it was becuase when japanese people bleach their hair blonde, it sometimes turns orange because of some pigment or something thats in their hair and that sometimes happens. so....they called the show bleach cuz of ichigos orange hair.
