Question about anime animation ?!

Question: Why is it in most Animes they focus so much detail into making the eyes big and shiny, and other things glossy and somewhat real looking, and trying to make the characers look "hot" instead of focusing on making the animation run smoother. Like when they are talking they are just in the same pose with their mouths flapping up and down for an hour. The animation itself seems so lazy. Avatar is a prime example of perfect animation in my opinion, samerai champloo is ok too,but I'm not asking for that much in all animes. But I first I thought it was just becuase they are lazy, but no they waste most of their time detailing other stuff which in my opinion make it look dumber. I hate the big glossy eye thingy.

Preference in animation style is a large factor for anyone when choosing what anime to watch. A large part of it is personal preference, but there is no direct correlation between unsmooth animation and eye type. Better and smoother animation just means it's a better anime. Not all animes are equal or as good as each other. Some can universally be agreed upon as bad, even. One of the reasons they have characters not move around and stuff is because they don't have the budget to produce more frames so they have to reuse them, so two frames will comprise the character's appearance as they stand there talking, while in an anime with a larger budget they can afford to have the character move and change views and stuff while they talk. So they could only draw five frames, they made each fram well, but it doesn't compensate for the lack of frames and the unsmooth animation.

They make their eyes big and cute to make them cuter.

the eyes are everything it is also a little hard 2 draw have u tried it???

hinata rules

anime concentrates a lot on the eyes sometimes because they can change expressions with it, the animations take awhile. Sometimes it's true that they get lazy though and it's noticeable, I don't like it either :(

well once in an anime i owned in the speacial preveiws it told how and why anime was made... the eyes i guess just give out their personality some animes have people with smaller eyes some with bigger and i suppose depending on which anime it wants to attract certain people.... it makes animes look cute or seriuos and depending on the outfits it can tell how and what time it was suppose to be stteled in and what time it was made... i just really dont know but this is what i came up with.... i hope i helped

First of all, the eyes are the BIGGEST PART of anime drawing!
The eyes mean a lot to most people, and if the eyes are screw up, the whole face is pretty much ruined. Also, like someone else said before, the eyes give the most expressions. Also, the big eyes are what attract the most people. The eyes can be a bit big, shiny, and can have pretty bright color.

When you say about how the anime character talks, yes, usually they just flap their mouth up and down. But animation is suppose to be WAY different from real-life. If you want the talking animation to be real, it'll just give a hard time to make it work, and even if they did, the anime WON'T EVEN LOOK GOOD.

If you don't like big glossy eye things, then don't bother looking at anime like Fruits Basket and go watch anime like Final Fantasy. (Both of 'em are good anime)

The big eyes you can blame on Disney and the creator of Astro Boy.

However, I have to say, much of the lip flapping instead of movement is due to the fact, I believe, because most anime is based off manga. There's a certain awkwardness to the story telling because of trying to transfer one medium to another. The series Gensomadien Saiyuki is a prime example of this. When the story strays from the story line of the manga there tends to be much more movement with the characters, but when there is a long speech that is pretty much word for word of the manga it tends to be very static with a close up of the character, no background and just the mouth moving for animation.

Also, I do believe that most anime studios have less people working on a series then say, the Korean studio that does Avatar. As well as the fact that they simply do not have as much time between airing episodes and seasons to properly animate the series. I think that's why some shorter series with only 13 episodes or so tend to have smoother animation then a longer running 150+ episode series.
