Bleach fans!!!!!! Is a zanpakuto undead?!
Question: well? I just need to know because for some reason i got into an argument about this...
I say that they have souls, and that just because they are part of the soul society (the spirit world) they should not be considered dead because for them to have died they needed to be alive in the first place. Plus, life and death is more of a subjective term since it depends on which world the person is from. People who die in the "living world" go to soul society. People who die in soul society go to the living world.
Zanpakutos were not once people. They did not die. They were not brought to life after dieing. I dont know what to say. IS IT UNDEAD?!?!!?!?

No, it's not undead it would of had to be alive to have died. So basically what you said was a good way to explain it. I think that zanpakutos are an extension of a soul reapers soul or maybe a part of their souls.
I think the Zampacto is just a spirit that is a sword. Its not alive its not dead, its just existing. Or at least thats what I think. I think in the soul society once you die you go there and when you screw it up and get killed there your screwed and you spirit disappears or you get reincarnated.

well they were alive at one point but like everything els they died and become the soul of the sow rd, like renjis sowrd its a animal demon it was probably alive during the time there were demons around and then lets take ichigo sword its a human soul which he died when he was human and when they die they go to soul society and become part of the sword

well, since a zanpakuto is the form of their power or reiatsu concebtrating in to form of a sword, ichogo's zanpakuto was pretty big because of his large amount of power, and the captains have pretty strong reiatsu but they can amke like an average sword
i think that a zanpakuto are souls from within you!!
