Why do most fans of Kingdom Hearts hate Kairi?!
Question: I have a friend who is a big fan of the series, and she hates Kairi with a passion? Why? She seems like a decent character.

I like Kairi, of course. She definately helps the plot in big ways, but as for your friend and what ive heard from other ppl, they dont like the whole "help! rescue me!" thing. She's more of the person who says "I believe in you! We'll be friends forever!" and some ppl want her to actually do something. She did, in kingdom hearts 1, when she was like one of the princesses, i think and she also turned Sora back into himself.(he was a heartless for a while) But, one of the main reasons ppl hate a character is that other ppl put their lives on the line for someone who duznt really do anything. (Think Sakura from Naruto) Like I said b4, Kairi does do some things, but not a lot. I guess that's for the best because the plot would be way too complex if Kairi had more abilities than she has now.
I like Kairi, she's a good character. :3 I think they hate her cuz she's friends with Sora.
Shes probably jealous that Sora likes Kairi and not her. =3
I think it's because Kairi holds the interest of both the main guy characters, Sora and Riku.
I agree with all the previous posts, but it's not just that both Sora and Riku are generally assumed to have feelings for each other, but...
Well, you could say she has Misa Amane Syndrome. It's generally accepted that Sora or Riku should be paired off with her, but much preferred if they're paired off with each other ;)
i think kairi is a good character that adds a lot to the storyline. I am speaking as a huge KH fan!!!!

But maybe because she's seen as mostly a 'damsel-in-distress' character, and may not seem really all that interesting a personality? I know some people who majorly dislike girls in the 'save me, oh hot, strong, kind hero! Save me, `cuz I'm pretty!' stereotype.
... Including me. ^^;; I don't really like Kairi either, but I'm not going to chew her out. As a gamer, I dislike her, but if she was a real person, I wouldn't mind being friends with her! Weird, I know. =3
