Question: Did anyone know that Hinamizawa was based on an actual village?
The village is called Shirakawa, apparently.

wow i didn't know that its cool, its really beautiful to i love higurashi no naku koro in its so cool and it gave me chilles lol
Holy crap they're the same... Well it looks pretty picturesque, maybe that's why they used that location, maybe the animator just decided to give his work more realism by basing it off of an actual place. They did the same thing with Call of duty 4, the pictures of chernobyl and the surrounding city that they show are actual places they photographed for production of the game.
