Why do evil anime characters...?!

Question: Why do their named end in "maru"? Like Ichimaru in Bleach and Orochimaru in NARUTO.

Answers: Why do their named end in "maru"? Like Ichimaru in Bleach and Orochimaru in NARUTO.

Hm...not always..Akamaru (Kiba's dog)...
Hyourinmaru (Hitsugaya's sword from Bleach)
"Maru" means "circle" or "round" in Japanese, when it's used in a name it just sorta means "well-rounded."
It's just a thingy that comes with a name. (It doesn't mean the people are spheres or anything...)
Good observation though...!?

nooo
itachi
madara
only some of them do not all of em

maru means something i forgot

Its not all of them, just in some cases maru is sometime associated with villains.

because they are so marumarumaru >.<

Kimimaru - i think hes not completely "evil"...
Kidoumaru - i hate that spider ninja

Not all of them do. Those are 2 guys who just happen to have their names end in maru. There are like a billion other villains with names not ending in maru. For example Itachi, Kabuto, Pein, Grimmjow, and Aizen.

umm, yeah you're right there but not all of them!
Light (or raito)
Hisoka
Rob Lucci
Scar

maru just sounds evil to me. I think thats why thwey do it a villan named Orochimari or ichika or something like that wouldnt sound evil and would be less effective

(naraku from inuyasha ends with a ku too)

Maru is a suffix usually added to a Japanese male name. It literally means "round" or "circle". -maru was formerly a popular suffix for samurai boys' childhood names. Today in Japan, -maru suffix is not as popular as the old days.

Not all bad buys have -maru suffix, there's some protagonist out there with -maru suffix. For example:
- Shikamaru
- Sesshomaru (He was evil first but we all know he's really nice)
- Akamaru

^_^

Maru means pill. LOL, does that mean they're all on crack or something? It's a subliminal message! O:

And here I was, expecting something extraordinarily witty, ready to whip out the handy handy evil overlord list. xD

-maru has no real direct meaning. It's a term of endearment commonly tacked onto the end of the names of boats by the sialors that work on it.
