Ummm... It depends on what you are in the mood for. Go with Haruhi probably. Other options woud be Kanon, Shigurui, or Moyashimon. Tokyo Godfathers as the movie choice.
ps, why isn't Kaiba on your plan to watch list? Come on man, that's going to be the best show of next season. Although I am really looking forward to stuff like Allison & Lillia and Genius Party (whenever that comes out :X)

[Edit] You'll probably like D.Gray-Man -- but I feel obliged to say it's like already on episode 72 or something... so if you don't want to watch a long anime then go for The Melancholy of HS :)

For a shoujo... Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge.... I laughed SOOO much while watching that anime ^^
Persona~Trinity soul. Alot of people say that the series is boring... but I dont think so at all. Its just calm and dark... and rather good ^^ I like it, anyways ^^
Moyoshimon.... if you like that whole "Flcl" and "Abenobashi" type series....
Paranoia Agent... if you are into those psychological, detective type anime... with crazy murderers and psycho kids... like Higurashi! lol!
