I'm not Japanese....?!
Question: so even if i did draw a manga and even if it did have a good story id still be criticized to copying japanese. do you think as an anime fan that most anime fans would bother with non-japanese works that emulate japanese manga art?

well i think avatar the last airbender is one of those animes but it hasn't orginated from japan it was orginated from america and we consider this to be a anime and nearly everyone loves it
I don't care it you're japanese or not, if the story sounds interesting to me and I like the art I will read it. There are tons of non-japanese manga-ka's out there. The girl who does the series Bizenghaust isn't Japanese, yet she's created a series that probably many people like in a style similar to japanese anime.
Well, for one, I have a friend who isn't Japanese, and she does this sweet manga, Hashi no Kage (Bridge of Shadows, I believe.). Of course she's only 13, but I believe she's going to publish the manga when she's older.
I'm sure when you go to college or something you can go to an art one in Japan, there's a few people that have done it; and create your own manga/anime. But if you didn't publish your manga, then you shouldn't have a problem.
umm..i think that if ur manga is really good, no one would care if you were japanese or not

being honest,
i wouldnt call you copying japanese, but
if i seen ameri-manga on shelves, i probably wounldnt buy it unless i got tons of reccomendations.
it's kinda like an american manga artist would have to prove themselves 100 times over one who is a native of japan.
but it's not just the american thing either.
i dont usually purchase manwhah or ani-manga either.
lol...personal prejudice maybe?
One of my fav. manga of all time is made by a non-Japanese artist, Dramacon. It's AWESOME!!! So if the story/art is good, then no one should really have a problem.
