I need help from fans of the Tenchi Muyo series!?!
Question: Which version had the flashing purple background in both the beginning and ending of each episode? I just watched an episode like that on tape last night, and would like to see more. It's been 5-6 years since Cartoon Network played it on its Adult Swim lineup. Thanks in advance for your help! :D

Well, I can't speak for what they may have done to it on cable TV, but as far as home video goes, it sounds like you're describing the opening sequence of the early OAV episodes.
These were released on VHS by Pioneer, then on DVD just prior to them becoming Geneon. Geneon has since re-released them as "Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki" Signature Series.
Even tho Geneon has now shut down, you should still be able to get copies of those early OAVs online from the usual sources (check Amazon, Right Stuf, etc.)
Just be sure not to confuse them with the more recent Funimation releases. Those are the concluding chapters of the OAV storyline.
