Who thinks in Death Note that Light/Raito is really evil?!

Question: Some people think he's really evil, and I'm still somewhat undecided. What do you all think?

Well that depends on what you call evil. If you call causing harm to people for the pure enjoyment of it then i would say no. Light in his own mind believed that these people truly deserved to die, but never did he actually "enjoy" killing. He killed people for the reason that he truly believed would em-better the society as a whole. He determined that a few lives lost is a worthy price to pay for the benefit of humanity. One might ask "what makes him able to play god?". The reason is because light thought of himself as a god as soon as he got the Death Note, i mean if I was that smart and talented it would be very hard to modest..... think about it, if you were light wouldn't your head be a little big?....

nice question

That is a very good question. I don't think of Light as a villain. I think of him as a very dynamic character, who honestly feels like what he is doing is right. And sometimes, I can't help but share his sentiments. Sometimes it feels like some people are just better off dead. On the other hand, I can also identify completely with L. It is a very complex and intriguing show, and it was filled with emotional and character depth.

Good question!

He's not necessarily evil, but he is corrupt. Power corrupts. Raito has been given this power, and he tries to pass himself as a new god. His thirst for infinite power is his downfall, not necessarily him being intrinsically evil.

Let's see
he killed L
he killed FBI agents
he killed criminals with minor records
he used misa
he used rem
he thought he was God
he was going mad with power

he is a terrible person & i'm glad he was killed by the deathnote ironic isn't it.

Oh, I love Light ^^ I don't think he's evil at all. It's just that his perception of "justice" is different from others. You can't call someone evil for doing things that may seem immoral to us... but just may be "right" for them... especially when they believe it's for the good of the world.

Well, yes... you can.... but that's not the point ^^;; What I mean is.... basically... what Light did wasn't too far off of human ideaology. Even today when you discuss the methods Light used to create "justice"... there are still people who agree with him.

In Light's heart he really believed that he was doing the right thing, and that his actions were noble and for the good of humankind.....

and I would never call a person truly "evil" for that.... especially in Light's case where he never so much as hurt an innocent... unless they were out to get him =p lol!!!

I don't think that he's evil, per say. More like misguided. His values are set in the right place, or were, it's just that the way of showing that was not.. "justified". Criminals are human beings, and therefore have the right to life. But this question comes down to "should criminals die?" if yes, then Light is not evil. Still I don't think he's evil..

Umm....i wouldn't say hes evil..i would just say he was stupid..or not understanding of how to use the death note...

instead of killing people who are trying to stop crime, he should focos on people who actually commit crimes.. -.-

Im still mad at him for killin my L

Love, Miyuki ^.^
