Yukito, after trying to distance himself from Misuzu to protect himself because if he stayed around her he would become sick too, found that he wanted to protect her. So he returned to her and begged for a realistic chance to save her. He was then reincarnated in the form of the crow, Sora. In doing this (sacrificing himself and giving his whole heart to her), Yukito broke the cycle of reincarnation. Misuzu adopts Sora as a pet.
The curse on Misuzu dates back to the feudal era, with Kanna. Basically, what happened there was when Kanna and her friends were surrounded by an army, Kanna began to use her wings and fly for the first time to create a diversion to allow her friends to escape. But, while she was flying, some monks cast a spell on her that bound her to a cycle of eternal reincarnation. Uraha and Ryuya decided to have a child who would carry on their legacy of trying to find a way to free Kanna from the cycle of reincarnation since Ryuya is getting sicker and sicker and about to die (because of the same reason Yukito almost left-people who get too close to Kanna/Misuzu suffer the same fate). Misuzu is Kanna reincarnated.
Since Misuzu is a human and not an actual winged being, the soul of a winged being (Kanna) inside of her is too big for her feeble human body, which is where her illness comes from. Misuzu gets sicker and sicker and eventually, eventually losing her memory just as Yukito warns. She begins again with her mother and they become very close. Misuzu, still suffering from having the soul of a winged being inside of her human body and unable to take it anymore, dies. Kanna/Misuzu and Yukito's spirits are both free.
At least that's how I interpreted it all, haha.
Misuzu broke free of the curse of Kannabi no Mikoto or Winged Priestess. No human soul can withstand the intensity of inheriting the spirit, so Misuzu was bound to die early. When she died, she broke the curse and her soul was freed.
I didn't really get it but I think she dies, but the curse is broken...or something she is definitely disabled..I was kinda sad and disappointed tho...
