Question: I was reading a wolverine issue where hes caught by SHIELD and they put this collar on him to negate his powers and he says his claws aren't super powers so he uses them to escape, can someone please explain how they're not superpowers?

His claws are a side-effect.
His actual super-power is an accelerated healing factor. This has allowed him to survive much longer than a normal human (he remembers being physically about the same age he is now during World War II, but has no clue how old he actually is). It also is what make him catch the attention of the Weapon X program.
They had been trying to fuse adamantium into the bones of test subjects, but it had always killed them. They thought his healing powers might make him more capable of surviving the proceedure, and they were right. But he also gained adamantium claws which he can retract.
Whether or not he had bone claws and just wasn't aware of it before, or if the claws were just excess adamantium that collected in his arms, has varied depending on the comic author. But having bone claws in his arm wouldn't be any more a super power than having an extra rib (which is fairly common in real life). And if it was extra adamantium, then it's not a natural ability of his at all.
because, his adementium body is NOT his power. his healing abilities is his powers. so he has free reign to use his claws, even if he has his powers negated! LOL! HOPE THIS HELPS!
I think it is because they are built into his body like a gun on a tank or something.
his mutant ability is to regenerate, the claw is experiment which conduct to him for his special ability to heal fast...the claw is his bone though been replace...
Wolverines superpower is fast healing not his claws the reason he can use his class without killing himself is his healing cause everytime he use his class it rips open his knuckles but the metal is built into his body its not a superpower
claws are like knives and blades,so they can't really be superpowers
Wolverine's claws aren't part of his mutant powers in that they don't just go away if something is canceling out his powers. His claws are bone and part of his skeleton. The powers that the collar negated were likely his heightened senses and his ability to heal rapidly. The loss of his healing factor makes it more painful for him to use his claws, but it doesn't prevent him from using them.
His power was accelerated healing. The claws were surgically added to his body when he was implanted with adamantium during the Weapon X Program.
Wolverines super powers are the abilty to heal when injured.
he has the claws because magneto injected him with the metal and was able to heal from it. if he didnt have that he would have died.
What rizzy said.. the reason that he has claws is he was the only one able to survive the surgery to have them put in because he heals so fast.
wolverine's power is fast ability to heal and not his claws. his claws were just included with the adamantium fusion. retractable claws are just normal to him like sneezing and sneezing is not a power.
