Naruto is weak as an anime...?!
Question: I've seen enough episodes of this show to understand its plot. Now I can't figure out why its still such a big deal. Can anyone say why?
Older anime like Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam Wing, and Cowboy Bebop were way better than this. They had better storylines, better characters, and weren't just a bunch of filler crap.

I agree that Naruto is over hyped, though it's a moderately good series that'd I dabble in...were it not for the fans. They're crazy, as you can see.

Naruto isn't a weak anime! You can't judge it on the filler episodes, you need to watch the episodes before them, or Shippuuden (which is the best in the Naruto series.)
But hey, everyone has their own opinion, I can't change that.

Dont judge by fillers you @#*&%^*@>! The fillers are so the MANGA can get ahead of the animae. Granted, Yuyu Hakusho was good, but Naruto has a much bigger fan base.
Also, Yuyu Hakusho is the only one you listed that had a good manga base, and Naruto manga is beyond good.
Admitedly the plot can be kinda shallow, butit goes up and down all the time.
Yu Yu Hakusho is my sh*t but naruto is a good show but your right it is overrated and Shippuden is way better and also just because a show is overrated does not mean its not good but you thinking its weak is your opinion some people think its the greatest anime ever I don't but I do think it is a good show except the fillers
well for me, its kinda like a new and improved dragon ball z, true enough, yu yu hakasho, i didnt like too much, gudam wing was cool i was mad when they took it off air but whatever, and cowboy bebop, they took it of air it was cool though, now u see whats happening, they're taking all the good animes away, so u can be focused on one. now i never said any of the old animes were better, because honestly they-are-not, naruto sums up a bit of every anime you can think of, like dragon ball z, inuyasha, and some other **** i cant think of cuz im in school, the fighting is awsome, its not too unrealistic until they start transforming and all that other cool ****, and not to mention the storyline, "WOW" the storyline keeps me interested for the fact that it keeps u guessing, i mean look at some of the **** that goes on, i still cant predict the outcome of this anime because there are so many possible outcomes of it jus think about it, im not listing any ideas, im in schol right now. it has good movie fundementals, drama, and comedy, ****, everybody likes one of the three. its a very well put together anime. I say "~BRAVO NARUTO~" its really good and addictive kinda like back when i was a kid watching DBZ, really cool. well thats why i think its cool and a big hit. now the only thing that gets me is why does naruto have to be blonde hair blue eyes, i never seen a white japanese person b4 LOL, but its cool.
Im not a Naruto fan at all. I dont understand that show, I dont like that show and I dont see what all these people see in that show that makes them worship it but you still cant judge an anime by its fillers. Animes that are based off of mangas need fillers whether you care about mangas or not. There are many more animes now than there were back when yu yu hakusho and all those others were on so the manga writers take more time to keep the story good to keep up with all the other mangas. Thats why they need more filler episodes to give the authors more time to write up a good continuation to the story. A new volume of a manga comes out around every 3 months but in episodes, one volume is about 10 episodes in the anime so without fillers the anime will end for a month or so because it will not have anything to base it off of.
I personaly hate the anime, the make the characters appear gay, but the manga is so popular because the characters are not portreyed as gay, and a lot of the stuff in the anime/manga is based around japanese mythology.

because Naruto is getting deeper as the series progress and frankly everything has fillers, YuYu Hakusho has fillers and lots of them, Rurouni Kenshin has fillers.
If you don't like it then tuff. Watch something else instead.

I share your opinion about the filler episodes. I agree cowboy bebop has a good storyline; yu yu hakusho's decent.
As an anime, I would say that the pacing is weak. The sheer number of fillers is annoying; and the director apparently drags several episodes of the Shippuden arc.
"Enough episodes" sounds like a very dubious phrase. Naruto has several impressive and quite lengthy arcs. Not sure where you stopped, but I'm hoping it's not during the first arcs, but during the filler arcs.
After the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, there is a time jump. Didn't bother watching the fillers; just started with Shippuden anime and followed the manga, in which Naruto returns 2 1/2 to 3 years later after training with Jiraiya. I recommend ditching that and starting with Shippuden.
I disagree that the three you mentioned above have better characters; storylines and all.
Labelling a character is "better" is very subjective. I'd rather say "better developed" Naruto's length makes it possible to present the different changing aspects of the characters' personality. Moreover, because there is an insane number of chapters and character interactions (fighting aside), we are presented a better vantage points when it comes to knowing the character.
Pacing aside, Manga-verse Plot is nothing short of brilliant.
Btw, Gundam Wing has near ZERO plot. The characters are good, but most of them are so bloody strong. They started out as strong and they ended up stronger. Not everyone has to be brilliant.
While Yu Yu Hakusho's storyline and pacing is decent, it has to make up a lot for themes. Characters are decent, but man, why does it always have to be about fighting like ALL THE TIME?
It's a big deal for me because: The characters are diverse, well-defined and well-developed, the concepts of the Narutoverse are intriguing and innovative and the themes are very deep and intensively studied. Sure, it can get very Dragon Ball at times, but the plot twists are brilliant. I love how Kishimoto melds theme and character, and how scientific (as much as Naruto-science permits) the concepts involved in the plot.
I see...*nods* the majority of episodes that you watched are the fillers...so you don't understand the plot...and if you don't like the show...so be it...we won't force you to watch it...and askin' why? 8-l just watch it...co'z I think there's no people here that can convince you how awesome Naruto is...and you'll just refuse to believe the more we explain....so there's no point...but deal with it...Naruto is the most popular Anime today.

Dont judge naruto by its fillers - i love naruto but i didnt watch the fillers. if u dont like it then dont fret about an anime you dont like. the plot gradually develops as the anime goes on. naruto's dream is to become hokage - duno if u know wat that is, but it simply is to be a great leader. - anyway the anime will keep going until he eventually becomes hokage.
