Favorite Super-Villain?!

Question: Heroes always come off better if they face dangerous enemies, and sometimes villains can be more interesting than the heroes.

Just out of curiousity, I'd like to know which particular villains spark your imagination, and I'll base the best answer on a reason or reasons why you enjoy reading about a particular villain.

I'll consider characters from various mangas as well, but while I'm familiar with most comic book villains, I only know a few mangas fairly well, so if you nominate a villain from a manga be sure to explain who the character is and what makes him of interest.

Thanos of Titan

When I judge what makes a villian great, I have to consider what have they done. For all of his power, what has Darkseid accomplished? I am not familiar with anime, but Thanos has also fought the Avengers alone and that was before he was enhanced. He is a capable leader, his followers worship him like he was a god. He has attained power on a cosmic scale more than once. He has even saved the universe itself. He has even won victories without his opponents even knowing that they lost. In terms of power, he would beat anyone mentioned on this page, not counting the guys on the first and third answer whom I've never heard of.

definitely Orochimaru Sama!
[edit] and Izen Sama
[edit again] and itachi of course
[edit] oh sorry bout that you said "I'll consider characters from various mangas as well," so and i kinda didn't read the last sentence... (sorry bout that)
well regular comics...hmm.....
i like cat woman from batman >.< shes strong sly and mysterous....

you had me worried thought you were not going to have legit question about the bad guys
Dr Doom because he feels that he is doing right by his people no matter how bad the deed he is doing

deidara
madara uchiha
itachi uchiha

Ultron

A villian who's goal is the annihilation of all mankind. He has fought the Avengers single handedly more than once even against their most powerful members. He wiped out an entire country and used the slain to create cyborgs with. He is the definition of ruthlessness.

the akasuki

Lobo. He's, bad to the bone, as tough as they come, and is always looking for a fight. Lobo's hardcore, plain and simple.

I choose the Green Goblin (Norman Osborne). He was the most deadliest foe Spider-Man ever fought. Not just because he knew his secret identity, but because of the obsession of power and his hatred for Spidey. Not to mention he murdered Gwen Stacy.

apacalypse is my favorite because he is so powerful and face it the age of apacalypse was one of the craziset willdest spins on the marvel world ever told he has the horsemen and he strikes fear in even the bravest of marvels super heroes he had the dark beast which was just crazy that beast would be a bad guy the whole story line was great except for wolverine only having one hand even scoot and alex summers were under his control thats why i think that he is the greatest villan

The Joker.

Sure, he's not the strongest, or the smartest, but he is one of the most unpredictable. If you face a really powerful villain and survive, then you thank your lucky stars. If it is someone who is a genius, and you survive, then you start trying to find an ally that is smarter. But if you face the Joker, and if you survive, then you keep an eye over your shoulder. He could show up again at any time. His unpredictability will always keep you guessing. If you don't know where he is, then you better hope he doesn't have a clue where you are either. He will be in your dreams, he'll be in every shadow--that breath you feel on the back of your neck, it's the Joker.

You ever danced with the devil by the pale moonlight?

Dc's Doctor Destiny or The Key. These guys are total cheese characters, but when a good writer gets them... they are wonderful bad guys.
