Where does "the simpsons" cartoon show take place? i mean what city/st!

Question: I pretty much found the same answer as the first person who answered your question...Matt Groening never really specifies where Springfield is located, because he wants it to be his little secret, and because there are so many locations of Springfield in the U.S. it keeps the audience dumbfounded, But I found this website that may help you understand why he did this...it focuses on what the physical features are of Springfield in the Simpsons to help narrow down the actual location, here's the website: http://www.peak.sfu.ca/the-peak/2001-1/i...
I hope that will help you...

They never say on the show - "Springfield" was chosen as a name since there's a Springfield in almost every state -
so, you can imagine that it takes place in YOUR state.

springfield,usa

a fictitious city called Springfield, state was never revealed, altho there are many cities in America called Springfield

i watch the simpsons everyday sunday through friday.and they do live in springfild itll say it in some eps but not all okay.

The Simpson live in the fictional city of Springfield that cannot possibly be located in any one state unless you know of a state that borders Ohio, Nevada, Maine AND Kentucky which Ned Flanders states in the movie. Matt Groening selected the name because over half the states in the US have a Springfield. David Silverman (one of the show's producers) has said that Springfield is located in the fictional state of North Tacoma, but it has never been confirmed in the cartoon or by anybody else besides him.

There was a contest between all of the Springfield's throughout the US to see who would get to premiere the Simpsons movie and Springfield, Vermont ended up winning. Afterwards, Matt Groening sent plaques to the Mayors of each Springfield, but he signed the plaque for Springfield, Oregon with "to the real Springfield." Matt Groening then announced that he had based the city in the cartoon off of Springfield, Oregon and his hometown of Beaverton, OR. Simply put though, the town in the cartoon is completely fictional.
