Is anyone else offended by the cartoon, " The Boondocks"?!

Question: I am white, But the cartoon the Boondocks just confuses me. I am not racist in any way, and this question is geared towards the black population. Are any of you offended by the cartoons use of the 'N' Word, or is it fine, because the charactors are black? Would your view change if the charactors were a white family? I'm sure the show would be canceled then.

I personally think that no one should use the n word. it is not meant for any good intentions, and i will never see any for it.
the way that the show uses it is to show how ridiculous and offensive it is, and to try to balance that with a picture of the saddeningly familiar side of a society. i feel that a bunch of black people who watch the show identify with the sensible brother in his sentiment that that in the end, black people can be pretty damn ridiculous at times, but they're his people and he still loves them. i think this can be paralleled with any race, but the creator happens to be a black man of that sentiment.
really, i think the point of the show is that people are flawed, and we can all fix a lot of things about ourselves and each other, but in the end, we are each a product, positively or negatively, of our communities and we should still love each other despite the faults.

i hope this helps.

just for a fun fact. speedy gonzolas was taken off of looney tunes because it was racist to mexicans. just thought that little bit of info would interest you.

wlll im white but i mean i dont think its offending its just a tv show thry dont truly mean it.

Hahahaaa! No! that show is jokes! C'mon, who cares. If you dont like it dont watch it.

Not trying to be rude, because I do see your point. However many ppl do find it to be humorous, just avoid it if its really bothersome for you. :)

And with your added information you do make a very valid point.
Its true, if white ppl were to use the word regardless, in most cases...well...we'd prolly get our asses whooped....and with your mixed messages comment, your right, things are gettin so mixed that Black ppl are callin white ppl N*****! lol what the hell is that? its like calling a black person a Cracker or something....so all you can do is beleive in your veiws and respect them in which you do...cause nothing is going to stop...perhaps only worsen....

I think it's one of those shows that skirts the edge, but I see what you are saying. However, I think similar examples would be Blazing Saddles or some of Dave Chappelle's sketches. Of course some people find it blatantly offensive, some see the humor in it. I think The Boondocks is partly making fun of racism (see how stupid Uncle Ruckus is) and partly just saying that's the way it is. Overall, I like the show, but you're right, it probably would be different if the main characters were white.

Far from being offended by "Boondocks," I find it entertaining and amusing. Each episode seems to work as a parable too, complete with a moral.

I understand the ideas behind it, but it tends to veer towards being didactic some of the time

i have to say that i was offended watching the show. i saw it with a bunch of friends who kept talking about how cool the show was. well, that was a very uncomfortable time...i told them that the show wasnt that funny cause it got so offensive at some points. i mean, i know humor, but it hurt even though i am colored. the fact that they use the "N" word in comedy aint really cool at all. but hey! we dont have to watch them, so i just turn the channel or turn the tv off.

that show is effin hilarious

its fine cuz there black, even though ed and rummy say the N word all the time and they are white, however they are played by charlie murphie and sammy jackson so i donno

Yes, that's why I refuse to watch it. I'm white too, but I have respect for people, regardless of color or race. I just wonder whatever happened to common decency in the media, whether its cartoons or live-action...
