How about Paradise Kiss? Ranma 1/2? Azumanga Daioh?
Rurouni Kenshin is a anime about samurai(s) it's sort of a lot of action, mild violence but the movies are a lot more detailed and a lot more violent. But stay with the show for now. The show has a really good story line, and some romance and a little comedy. So it's not boring. :]

uuummm, CowBoy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Eureka seven, CardCaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Chronicles(It's by the same people who do CardCaptor Sakura, It's got some of the same characters but different lives, I'd say watch after CardCaptor Sakura)
Those are some of my favorites, and by the way, if you watch dubb, then CardCaptor sakura is reffered to as CardCaptors, but I would say japanese is better because the dubbed cut out ALL the romance, if and episode had even a little, they either changed the words or just did'nt play it, so yah, It's by far the worst dub in the world.
