Question: -When Kaname released his bankai in front of Kenpachi he talked about how it's no problem for him himself because he's always been in darkness...did he say that because he's blind? I have never seen his eyes before and I know he wears those glasses things. He has a nice bankai.
-Also, is Kaname still alive? I'm on about ep. 54
-One more question: Kaname said Zaraki killed a captain to get in the position he is in..who did he kill...Kaname's childhood friend?

- Yes, Kaname is blind. I believe he was born blind. But later on in the series there's a couple scenes that don't make sense to me, in terms of his lack of sight.
- Yes, Kaname is still alive.
- If I read correctly, the name of the previous captain of squad 11 before Zaraki was never revealed. Though, it wasn't Kaname's friend, who was a female. The previous captain was a man.

>nope, his friend is a woman. Kaname hates Zaraki cuz he gets his position through bloodshed when he could take a test and then have 3 captains support him if he wants to become one. but Kenpachi chose the bloody way and Kaname hates it..

1. Yes, he's blind, and as for the look of his eyes, no one has seen how it looks like because he was blind from the beginning of his time in the academy, even.

3. No, from the sound of Kaname's explanation, his friend was killed before he joined the Shinigami academy. But yeah, Zaraki did kill a Captain to gain the current position....brr!
