Why do people not like Avatar the last Airbender?!
Question: I like this show (sure, I haven't seen it in a few months, but I still like it) But then I hear people bashing it and saying it's a wannabe anime.
Sure, it's done in an anime-like style, but that doesn't make it a wannabe anime. Who said it was supposed to be an anime anyway? O.o
I, for one, love the characters and the storyline. I think that the voice acting and animation are great. Zuko is my favorite character. ^-^ All in all, I think it's a wonderful show, but why do some people hate it so much?

As a former Avatar hater, maybe I can shed a little light on this. When it came out, I thought it was some sort of an abomination. A kid's show trying to monopolize off anime's popularity in America? Yeah, I'd caught a little Totally Spies; I wasn't going there. It looked childish and I didn't like the art, unrelated to it being an "anime wannabe". I bashed and I gaged, and I never bothered watching it.
I caught a stray episode while bored and flipping through the channels (I think the season 3 premiere) and I was amazed. Here was good voice acting, a character-driven storyline, and well-done animation. I was instantly in love, and bought the season one box quickly after. I think sometimes people just need to separate it from anime entirely and give it a fair chance.
And...some people think it copied off Naruto? First off, despite what the rabid Naruto fan-brats seem to think, it's not the end-all-be-all classic wonderful anime of all time. Any aspects the creators borrowed from anime hopefully came from something with a little more time-tested credence and not the shonen fad of the moment. Perhaps they both borrowed from the same conventions? Nartuto didn't invent violent sibling rivalry or shy but determinedly strong heroines, after all. Just a side note.

i know..i love this show!!!! im waiting for the new episodes to start, and that is really making me mad. even though i am an anime lover, i love avatar. it is really good and it ahs a great storyline.
zuko is my favorite too...i like him better with his hair grown out rather than in that ponytail thing
i guess people hate it because it isnt really anime but it isnt really a cartoon. anime fans many times think cartoons are stupid, but not all of them. so maybe they just feel that avatar is another stupid cartoon
well, i used to like it, yes, like it, not love it, just so you know but then suddenly i started to feel a certain feeling of annoyance for that show.., idk why.. but the feelings came out suddenly and naturally..
for one thing.. i hate the main character,, Ang or whatever his name is cuz he's retarded, bald and ugly
and the female character too.. both and and her seems to like each other but i don't think thay make great couples cuz of their heights.. (yea, heights matters a lot to me)
the story sucks! i really hate it cuz it's anime like yet it's considers as 'soft' tome.. there are many battles in the story but I NEVER see a single blood spilled out of any of the character's body... man, it's kids stuff!
morever, it's from NICKELODEON, a KIDS show.. I really hate AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER! really really hate it!!!

anime devotes (idiots) think that any catoon with big eyes is an attempt to copy their beloved anime, as they think all other things fall short, and place japan on apedistal to worship, it irritates the hell out of me.
its just not my type.. i wouldn't even say its an anime.. just a cartoon. I'm more into animes and manga not english cartoons.. plus its kinda confusing.. i guess i KINDA like it.. just not alot.. and my sattilite is messed so i cant watch it anymore LMAO. but yea... its just some people dont like that kind of stuff.. everyone has different likes and dislikes and they can't help it if they dont like avatar.. its not that its bad.. its just im not very interested in it thats all.
