What anime should I watch next? (Read details before answering)?!

Question: I've watched most of the "main stream" animes. They really dont cut it for me. I have -no- problem with subtitles, as long as theyre in english. Would someone tell me a good anime to watch with a small description of it?

Recently Ive watched the entire series of Red Garden. I do enjoy offbeat animes, or ones with some mystery/paranormal. Id prefer something that is not a comedy. I dont mind a few jokes here and there, but Id like a more serious feel to it. I do not care if its shonen or shoujo. No preference there really, I watch either or if the series is good.

Also, no series with like.. 100 episodes. That kills me when Im watching an anime. I prefer those with 12-22 episodes. Not ones that drag on with filler episodes.

And finally, the anime must be of good quality. I dont need to go off watching something -I- could draw. I dont mind if its old, as I did like Vampire Hunter D. (anime movies are fine too!)

Thanks in advance!

Here are a few great ones you might enjoy

Mushishi -
My favorite anime.
A supernatural fantasy/drama unlike any you'll find, very surreal. It has the best art/visuals I have seen for a series.
The kind of anime you can get lost in, it's amazing !
You'll love this one, 26 episodes

Denno Coil -
Denno Coil is an anime that has one of the coolest Sci-Fi concept I've seen in a long time. In the future, kids use these glasses that allow them to interact with the internet in real time. There are even viruses, that look like little creatures, running around this town. It follows the lives of these kids, who belong to the Denno Coil Cyber Investigation Agency. It's worth a look. Even though it is Sci-Fi, it doesn't revolve around it. It has more of a slice of life feeling to it.

You can watch it at Veoh.com

Baccano! -
Baccano! is an awesome action anime.
It has some comedy in it, but it is pretty serious for the most part, and there is mystery as well ^^ There are only 13 episodes.

Fate Stay Night is pretty good. It has about 25 episodes and it is about defeating 7 masters to obtain the Holy Grail which will grant the Master and the master's Servent (the soul of a hero) a wish. The masters can use magic and the servents which fight for the masters have magical powers and abilities which vary.

You should try Hikaru No Go. It's longer then 22 episodes but isn't nearly as long as Naruto or Bleach. It has wonderfully drawn characters and a really cool story.

It's about a 12 year old boy, Hikaru Shindo, who finds a really old go board with the spirit Fujiwara-No-Sai. Sai teaches Hikaru to play go and soon Hikaru plays Akira (I think that's his name) and becomes his rival. Late Hikaru becomes an insei and tries to become a pro go player.

I won't tell you anymore because that would ruin the series.

The anime/manga is finished so you won't have to wait for new episodes.

I hope you try it.

Spirited Away
Steamboy
Laputa: Castle In The Sky

Perfect!! I would recommend Death note. Its about a guy in high school who gets a book called the "death note". Hes a straight A student all through. He gets the book by accident, when a monster from hell drops it *BY MISTAKE*.

Actually, the books instructions are written in english. Any persons name which is written within the book will die within 40 seconds(with a huge heart attack) if his/her death cause isnt specified. If it is specified, then he/she dies by the specified cause.

The guy who gets the book starts writing the names of all the criminals who are wanted. All of them start dying.

"Do I have the power to punish my fellow humans?" he asks himself. Thats only a question he has to answer in the coming episodes....

Each season has like 12-15 episodes and you can find the anime on http://www.realitylapse.com

My technology blog: http://pcriddler.blogspot.com

samurai deeper kyo would be your best bet
http://anime6.org/?p=156
that is if you havn't seen death note, thats one of my alltime favs
http://anime6.org/?p=40
however if your not opposed to strong violence than hellsing is the best
http://anime6.org/?p=83
all of these animes are under 40 episodes

Hellsing (My alltime favorite) The Anime is only thirteen episodes *sniff* but there are now four OVA's which is so freaking awesome! Also, you've probably already watch Fruits Basket

Bleach
Chibi Vampire (Karin, is the Japanese name)
Rurouni Kenshin
Naruto
Inuyasha
Tokyo Mew Mew
Vampire Knight (Which is coming out this year in April! Woot)
DN Angel
Cowboy Bee boop (Not sure if I spelled that right, because I don't watch it. But I've heard its good)
Eurika 7 (Again, spelled it wrong...sowwy)
Blood +
As far as movies goes, the Hiyao Miyazaki ones are really good. They include: Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Princess Monoke.
Movies:
Castle in the Sky (Laputa)
SteamBoy
Wrath of the Ninja
the Naruto Movies
the Inuyasha Movies

Well that's all I can think of at the moment! Good luck! I sincerely suggest Hellsing, because it is so amazing! You'll fall in love with Alucard because he is just so freaking awesome! Also I think you'll agree with me. Its the first time that they actually got voice actors who don't sound cheesy or corny at all. Infact it sounds so wonderfully perfect. And the graphics and artwork are amazing. I highly recommend it.

http://www.veoh.com/ has a free "Veoh TV" which you can download and watch and save vids anytime you want at no charge at all and no viruses.

http://mangafox.com/ has free scanlations of manga

http://onemanga.com/ also has free scanlations of manga.

Good luck! hope this helps!

Merry ye part and blessed be,

i reckon night wizard...it fits your description perfectly...like literally perfectly

u should try air gear its got action its funny its got some romance it only 25 episodes long and i think u would really enjoy it

Revolutionary girl utena. It's a bit long, but it's hella good.
39 episodes and there are a few fillers that you could do without.
It's about a girl who goes to a private school. There are duelists that go against each other for the hand of the rose bride- she holds the key to eternity.
It takes place in a surealist dream of a place. Utena *main character* likes to make believe she's a price and she is the undefeated master of the rose bride although she doesn't do it for power like everyone else, she just wants to protect the rose bride, Anthy.
It's a pretty weird anime but it's awesome to me. I really think you should watch it.

His and Hers Circumstances is 20-something amount of episodes and is a shoujo.
The two main characters are a boy and a girl who become rivals in school because they were both big shots at their elementary schools. They eventually become friends and the show goes into detail of their developing relationship with each other and the people around them.

Those are the only 2 less mainstream I can think of, but they are really worth watching. I've seen the whole series with these 2.

Shinigami no Ballad
A girl wrapped in white, her name is Momo...in her hand lies a blunt yet shiny scythe. By her side is a wingged black cat by the name of Daniel. Carrying the souls of humans, the girl's existence parallels to that of a "Death God" or "Shinigami". At the instant when this white Death God touches the hearts of humans, the world is filled with kindness and grief...

However, he is also part of "Ax", a special operations group controlled by the Cardinal Catherina. xxxHolic
