X-Men Question: After House of M?!

Question: I didn't follow any X-Men or mutant related comics while I was waiting for the "House of M" thing to blow over, and I'm confused about a few things now. Aren't their more X-titles than there were before House of M started, but aren't there also suppossed to be fewer characters with working mutant abilities now?

Exactly what is the situation with Marvel's mutants now? I know the answer could be complicated, but I would appreciate at least a shorthand explanation.

Thanks in advance.

Well, it's Marvel...they're not going to cut titles when it's profitable.

The number of mutants in the world has lowered to a point of "extinction" to roughly just 300, with less than 200 cataloged/documented mutants. Formerly-powered mutants have now either died, move on to a normal human life, or found new ways to possess power (although not necessarily in a positive manner.)

Of course new mutants/characters are also introduced due to House of M's reality shift, or the Conservation of energy (the lost of mutant energies must have been transfered elsewhere.)

However, the major change in plot would probably be the heavier focus on the internal feud within the mutant race, and how the world has reacted to the decline in mutant number.
