The beginning of the chapter is a flashback. The Kuran home was just attacked again, and Yuuki's father, Haruka Kuran, is speaking with Yuuki's mother, Juri Kuran. In order to protect their daughter, Yuuki, Juri wants to seal away her vampire powers, but to do that would mean death for them. Haruka thinks that for Yuuki's sake, it's time to use their powers to protect Yuuki. Juri leaves to explain the situation to Kaname.

It seems that while Haruka and Juri were speaking, more vampires came, and Haruka assumes that they are from the Senate and are planning to attack. As it turns out, they were sent to attack by Rido. Rido and Haruka speak, and then Rido sends his vampires to "get the Princess," that is, attack Yuuki.

Arright. At this point it looks a little weird. XD I think that Rido turned the roots he ate earlier into a monster of sorts, or one of his vampire servants turned into a monster. In any event, that giant root monster tries to attack Haruka, but he stops it. I assume that by where Haruka grabbed the monster, he could've easily killed it, and so when he commands it to kill Rido, it obeys. At least, it tries.

Then a young Kaname comes outside and sees the carnage that's occuring. I got a little bit confused here. A sword appears, which I'm guessing came out of the body of the now-slain root monster thing ( x__x;; ), and Haruka tries to get the sword. Kaname tries to stop him, believing that it's a vampire hunter's sword. Haruka tells Kaname to go back inside for his own safety.

While Haruka is trying to persuade Kaname, I think Rido or one of his vampire servants stabbed Haruka with the vampire hunter's sword in the back, pushing it so far as to reach Haruka's heart. As Haruka dies, I think he tries to reveal to Kaname that he is not, in fact, the biological child of Haruka and Juuri. Then Haruka explodes into dust, meaning that he has really died. (At the beginning of the chapter, when Haruka first faced off with the rest of the vampires, he said that the first round of them were already turned into dust, meaning he defeated them. So I'm almost certain that when a vampire becomes dust, it's dead for good.)

After witnessing his father's death, Kaname turns on Rido, wielding the sword that was used to kill him, determined to slay Rido once and for all and remove his vampire power of being able to ressurrect himself. But then Kaname can't make the final move and remove his power. He kills Rido without removing his ability for rebirth, meaning that it's inevitable that Rido will return. Kaname vows that he will destroy Rido when he does return.

The flashback ends on Page 23, where Rido is chained inside a coffin and Kaname is trying to kill him. However, once again, he can't do it, which is why he's stabbing himself in the hand. Ichiru asks why Kaname can't do it, and Kaname reveals that Rido is Kaname's "master". He can't kill Rido.

An unknown vampire is speaking to another unknown vampire. I assume that they are both from the Senate. He says that Rido will be reawakened by Kaname's blood, and replace Kaname. Then he says that Kaname raised one of the Kiryuu twins. As I read this, I assumed that that meant Ichiru. That'd be the logical choice, but then they say that they won't have to worry about the OTHER twin, Ichiru, anymore. Meaning that the one that Kaname raised was Zero?

... Arright. Wtf? XD

Anyway, then they say how Zero will not become obedient to the Senate, so he's been imprisoned as a "dangerous vampire" by the Hunter's society. The person that the unnamed male vampire was speaking to (a really ugly old woman, who looks like a vampire) reveals that she is the master of the Hunter's society who ordered Zero's imprisonment.

Then the scene moves to Zero, in jail. He's speaking to his teacher, the vampire hunter who tried to train him to become a hunter. It seems that after his teacher leaves, Zero is suffering from his need for blood. He starts to think about Yuuki, the human Yuuki.

Then the chapter ends. Sorry this was so long, I read it page by page and tried to explain it as I went along XD And also, it might have seemed a little repetitive because I tried not to use the words "he" and "she" because it may have gotten confusing for any readers. Uwaaah, I want Yuuki and Zero to end up together so bad ><

*EDIT*
MeruPuri. Ohhhh my gosh. It's by the same artist as Vampire Knight and Wanted and Captive Heart, and it's SO ADORABLE AND SO GOOD. It's short, about four volumes. You can read it here.
http://www.onemanga.com/Meru_Puri/

Tenshi Ja Nai is also good, but I don't believe you can read it online, and it's eight volumes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenshi_Ja_N...

And you can't go wrong with the Fruits Basket manga. It's longer, twenty-three volumes total, but it's so worth it. It's funnier in the beginning, and as the series goes on you see more and more romance. It's my favorite manga. XD

Oh, other series, because I'm just going to ramble
Millennium Snow - http://www.onemanga.com/Thousand_Years_o...
Ouran High School Host Club - http://www.onemanga.com/Ouran_High_Schoo...

Twinkle Stars (Hoshi wa Utau) - http://www.onemanga.com/Hoshi_wa_Utau/
