How long is too long for a manga series?!

Question: Just curious about your opinion. ^__^

I've got loads of manga, and the longest was 23 volumes. I thought it could have stopped after 12, but I just had to keep going.

Sometimes there can't be a manga "too long", but I'd say the ideal stop for me would be about 12 volumes, because then I'm all ready to get another one, and there's plenty of drama to fit into that much anyway. :)

What do you think?

If the series is great and it promises entertainment than I don't mind going as long as they are. I wished Toriyama would continue DBZ. Some of the longer ones out there I too don't mind. Detective Conan, Naruto, even Doraemon.

The one that my patience wearing thin is Inuyasha. I mean after more than 500 chapters, they're still fighting the same villain. I mean we're at 547 chapters right now and they've been talking about "The Last Battle" since early chapter 500s and we're still at it.

Huff!

I do think a drama/romance manga cannot go as long as action/shonen type. But then again, I was a huge fan of Glass Mask and I know that's long. So I guess it really depends on what and how smart the mangaka is to attract our attention.

^_^

I would say over 200 chapters would be too long but, if you enjoy the manga that so much it wouldn't matter because you would want it to be very long. Naruto is almost to chapter 400 yet, I still keep reading because i love it! =]

For me, a manga is never too long when i enjoy it!!! I really want more chapters.

I say It should stop after it ties up all ends, but than again I liked the cowboy bebop manga & it only has 6 volumes. If it does not get boreing, it can go on & on, but To each it only.

Too long depends on the theme. Naruto is just incredible, and I still want more.

Ummm... too long... the best example would be Detective Conan. Now that manga is just too damn long. I gave it up ages ago because I couldn't take any more murders.

Ideal mangas... Yeah, Beauty Pop is my ideal manga's length. It's around 10 volumes. I never lose interest in manga until after 10 or 12 volumes, unless they're great ones like Bleach and Naruto. I guess it all depends on the manga.

For me long is at least 300 chapters. The manga and anime case closed has 645 chapters!!!!!!!!

When it goes over 50 volumes it's WAAAAYYYY too long. I've seen manga that have over 50 volumes before and I'm like: "Wooooww...." o.o;

Usually anything over 10 volumes is way too long for me.

There are exceptions, though. Manga like 20th Century Boys, which is 22 volumes, was great and I was glad it was so long.

The longest manga I ever read was Boys Over Flowers, which was 36 volumes.

600 chapters. Dragonball was too long, Inuyasha is too long.

I think once a series gets close to 600 it needs to stop
