^^Marvel Zombies is over

Dre Loc, the big trend in the past couple of years has been trade paperbacks, which are a great way to catch up on all the stories you missed. Really, Non-Superhero comics from the past ten years have been incredible, but I get the feeling you're looking for superhero stuff.

Since I can tell you're a Marvel guy, you should probably go back and read Civil War and World War Hulk, because they're pretty important to what's going on with the whole Marvel universe right now

But as far as MONTHLY comics coming out at the moment, and limiting to superheroes:

# Incredible Hercules - Since Red Hulk has his own brand new book, they gave "Incredible" to Hercules in a bold move, and it's been damn, damn good. It's only about 4 issues in (although Herc played a major roll in the World War Hulk arc of Incredible, so you might go back even further). It's really good to see this character finally getting the spotlight with some great writing.

# Daredevil - you'll basically want to go back and read the last 100 issues of Daredevil. It has been that consistently amazing over the past ten years that I can genuinely recommend nearly every single one, preferably in order. The Bendis/Maleev era was the best DD since Frank Miller's

# Marvel Knights Punisher - go back to when Garth Ennis first started working on this back in 2001. "Welcome Back Frank" is one of the all-time best Punisher stories ever, as is Punisher:Born

# All Star Superman - you might be turned off at first by Frank Quitely's pencils, but Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman is insane science fiction craziness and just damn entertaining stories featuring Superman and his supporting cast. There's a lot of retro feel here with the kind of bizarreness that 50s and 60s Superman stories had, but told in a modern comics style.

# Avengers: The Initiative - This spun directly out of Civil War, which I recommend you read first, but it's one of the best new books Marvel has going for it. It mixes dozens of new and old characters in fun and creative ways as a new generation is trained by veteran heroes

# Invincible - Robert Kirkman's series from Image is the best superhero title on the stands period. He's been working on this title for about 5 years now, and has already built an arsenal of characters equal to anything form Marvel or DC. The main character, Mark Grayson, is son to the worlds greatest hero, Omniman. Now in High School, Mark has finally started developing powers of his own, and his dad will show him the ropes, helping him to get his first costume and picking out a code name. From their, Mark has his first team up, tries to balance school, work, relationships, and keeping his identity secret. Basically it's everything that was so fun about Spider-Man in the 60s. Every month this book comes out it's the first thing I read, and I'm never disappointed. But I can't encourage you enough to start from the begining to see some masterful storytelling

# The Walking Dead - another Image series from Robert Kirkman, TWD is the best horror story you'll ever read. An ongoing tale about a group of survivors in a world overrun by Zombies, this series takes you places that classic Zombie movies couldn't before the credits rolled.
