Why Do You Think This Is?

There is one 'black' Japanese anime woman-

Yoruichi from Bleach-

Ever been to Japan? Ever seen pictures of Japan or any films including Japan? There are no black people there. There is your answer.

Well...anime is from Japan.....Maybe some of them do, its just you havent found it yet..........good luck! ~_^

Wrong

What about Brock(Pokemon)

I am not sure if it counts as a anime but Afro Samurai

Eureka 7, and Cowboy Beebop has black women and men in them.

There are no white anime characters. They are all Asian, that is because anime started and was made by asian countries.

Here's a list of some:

In tenjo tenge there is a black guy. But 4 the most part black people just dont live in japan and of course anime is gonna be based on wut japan is like. Its the same in the US cuz most movies seem to take place in NYC.

Not really there are lots of characters I could mention.

In my opinion, the reason why there are not much diversity of colors in the casts is because it appeal to the younger audience. However, if you watch an anime that's for 13+ audience then you'll find them more diverse.

I dont think its that they are white.. there skin maybe but then again.. they can't make them yellow. And what about Wolf's Rain, Afro Samurai, Samurai Seven, even the Boondocks, they have colored characters... maybe not black but colored...it just depends on the creator and how the producers and makers view the certain character. If you feel that there should be more African American then make it so.

Afro Samurai is an anime with a black protagonist/main character I think
The Galaxy Railways has a black character in it
Blood+ has a black character in it
Fullmetal Panic I think does too

all the other ones that I'm thinking of have already been said. You just don't see them very often cuz I don't think Japan has a lot of black people in it.

Joco from Shaman King is African America, and even if there aren't so what? who cares? They're mostly set in Japan, it doesn't matter if there are no arabs, blacks, indians or whatever.

Oh yeah … I think that too. I read this book on anime and they said In the 1940, when anime was being first created (around that time) , people had no money to hire non-Japanese actor so they did it in animation. It brought people to the screens to see anime because it gave the people watching it a “otherworldly” feel and it has stuck all the way to today. I don’t know why they haven’t incorporated many Afro Americans into there stories but I know that there are a few that have: Afro Samurai, Xenosaga Cowboy Bebop, and Bleach. I believe that they are warming up to the idea. I really want to see more of my ethnicity in anime.

Kaname Tousen/bleach
Yoruichi shihoin/bleach
Afro/Afro samurai
bob Makihara/Tenjo Tenge
yeah that about much characters that I know that are African-American,well someJapanese creators don't see very many African-American well because because there's no such thing as African-Americans only people from America and people from Africa (sorry I'm trying to refrain from using the "b" word when talking about Africans from other countries or even that type of race in general),I'm mean what do you call a African from England a African-Britain,or how about a African-Japanese because you wouldn't dare call a person that was African that was born and raised in England a African-American whould you?there isn't very many people of that race in japan to creator to have a inspiration but the story me and my friend are creating has people of that race(sorry trying to be polite)about 5 to be exact so far

Well I hate to sound racist, but it was a common belief for Japanese in the past not to draw any "black" characters since they thought it as being "dirty". That's why anime characters are more fair skinned, because it's thought of to be more "clean" and "pure". Another note could be made with ganguro girls, in which they had darker skin than average Japanese people, but in anime, their personality was almost always depicted as being snotty/testy/rude/etc.

on fushigi yugi they have black and tan and lots of coolers
