i'm half black half latina but i don't have a big problem with it i guess asia doesn't feel the need for blacks but its not racist its just that they don't have any blacks in japan. but i'm sure if they did they would put more black in anime. also the story line for blacks what would they have them do? i always thouht piccolo seemed black but thats just me.

they think that the lack of black people is racist,
you already knew that,
but you are right, sometimes a black person just doesn't fit the story line,
and sometimes the black people in an anime are very stereotypical...
but that isn't being racist, just slightly cliche and uninformed.

Im black and i dont have a problem with it besides thier are some blacks in anime but i dont even pay attention to the color of there skin only the asowme story line that animes have.

It offers a limited view of life, but i agree that it reflects more the society and if you have little to no contact with Africans or South americans or hispanics, they won't be showing up

There ARE black people in anime, Jams from BLOOD+, Louis for the same, a couple of crew-members of the Gekkostate are Black on Eureka Seven, Cowboy Bebop has lots of Black characters; there are doubtless lots more, but that's all I can think of here at work while pretending to file reports.
Actually, I never thought to "stalk" any particular race on anime. That's another thing about anime: There are way too many types, breeds, races, and species for most people to be bothered to single out just "Blacks".

Think about it.

serves you right for reading or watching it

Well there are some animes whos plot is set in an American city like New York. I sometimes found it strange why there wasn't 1 black person, I mean it is New York, but I just ignored it.

Here are the only black people I've see so far in anime:

There was two in Bleach
A few more on Cowboy bebop
One on Shamen King
Two on Eureka 7
Another one on Tenjho Tenge
One on Dragonball
Two on Blood+ but one of them died because he worked for Diva and let's just face it we already knew that he was going to die in the first place.

And that's all I got. I've never had a problem with it, I could honestly care less, I just love anime and will continue to watch it with or without black people.

I've never had a problem with anime being racist. I never saw it in that light. I could careless really if the anime was blue, purple, white, yellow, etc. As long as I am being entertained, I have no problem with it. How is that people thought anime was racist?

You forgot the Rose Bride from Revolutionary Girl Utena.

My guess would be because anime comes from Japanese and there are no black Asians...Unless there is then i have been badly informed in the past =/

racism doesnt only have to be against black people you know that right? well some anime shows are racist even if there arent black people.....however most of the ones i watch arent racist
