Question: What are some issues and themes in anime!?
Answers:
I'd say everything under the sky from real life, sci-fi ,wild fantasies and just plain whacky non-sense!.
Sometimes the really though provoking ones ask good questions like the control of media by the government(R!.O!.D),the use of technology to benefit man(Real Drive),politics/economics(Spice and Wolf),environmental sustainablility issues(Arjuna), and even microbiology(Tales of Agriculture)!.
However, these shows are relatively not well known since I have realised that people don't like to think much!.Instead they indulge in romance, comedy and action series!.For me I think its best to get a taste of something different and actually learn something once in a while!.I actually learnt alot about bread making than I ever thought I would have learnt in a life time just from watching yakitate ja-pan!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Usually there is a rivalry between two main characters, one of which is good and the other evil, or one good and the other a rebel of sorts!. The other classic is just good old fashioned good against evil!. A recurring plot element is spiritual power, pressure, or something like that, like chakra, all of which is their source of power for special attacks!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

In the series Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Crisco, the story takes place in futuristic france and the issue that revolves around the series is the secrets and selfishness of the aristocrats in society and how, because of their social standings, many people are forced to be involved!.
Another series is Beck, a music anime!. The series is about a group of individuals, all with musical talent, and their dreams, as well as struggles, to become a rock band that can hit all over the world!. It shows the desires, sacrifices, and hopes of the band members as they brave through a cruel world to meet their dreams!.
Basara is about a young girl who has to take up the name Tatara (which was her twin brother, the chosen one who was said would save the land of Japan) and become a force, and a fighter, than can lead thousands of people through an amazing revolution!.
Seirei no Moribito is an anime about a female spearswoman named Balsa whose occupation is a bodyguard for those who will pay!. She believes that by saving lives she can atone for the lives she had taken!. She then gets the job of protecting the Prince of her country from his fathers assasins, and is forced to basically throw away her life to proetct him!.
There are SOOO many types of anime!.!.!. just figuring out only one issue and theme is impossible!

There are way too many to address in one shot so how about the one used in the Gundam series, mainly the futility of war!. Or more specifically, man's desire for peace conflicted by his nature to fight!. This seems rather accurate since we like to talk about peace but we can't seem to keep from fighting!. Sometimes for even the most trivial matters!. That leads to the concept of "right" and "wrong" which, in a war, would depend on who's opinion you were asking!. Meaning both sides could be right or wrong!. This is used a lot in anime!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
