Why are comic magazines called comic BOOKS?!

Question: Why are comic magazines called comic BOOKS!?
I have never heard of magazines like Life, Saturday Evening Post, People, or Time called books!. Yet comic magazines have always had the name "comic books" attached to them even though they are clearly magazines!. Any ideas as to how that description ever got started and why it has remained to this day!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Comic books started out as collections of comic strips from newspapers!. It was a way for publishers to gain a profit by recycling previously paid-for art!.

They were called 'books' because 'magazines' at the time were for adults!. You couldn't market a 'magazine' to a kid because they were often perceived to be boring, opinionated, and lacking many illustrations!.

It should be noted that the phrase 'comic book' is almost exclusively American!. In Europe, they are often called 'comic magazines', and the Japanese term 'manga' is actually short for the phoenetic form of the word 'mangazine'!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
