Ironic? Big eyes on Japanese animation.?!

Question: Ironic!? Big eyes on Japanese animation!.!?
Why is it that Japanese people, known for having narrow eyes, draw huge wide open eyes on their animations!?

P!.S!. I'm not trying to be offensive, it just struck me as funny!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Bigger Eyes = Bigger surface to project "emotions!." The head in general with eyes, eyebrows, cheeks, & mouth are the most expressive places for animators!.

So if they want to express a feeling, you want big surfaces to "exaggerate" those feelings & really exert those emotions to the audience!.

And it's got that "cute factor" too!. Look at the size ratio of eyes:head of puppies & kittens, and compare that to their older "not so cute" parents!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think because it makes the character look more innocent and cute!. Why because most of the villains have like the evil looking narrow eyes(no offense) and like the victims and the hero's have the big round cute puppy dog eyes!. lol
That struck me as funny also when I first started watching anime & reading the manga!. :DWww@Enter-QA@Com

I heard they were modeled after Mickey Mouse!. It could be true, since anime came after the famous Disney mascot!.

also, it is adorable!. I mean look at Vampire Knight! The Night Class at Cross Academy is made of vampires in secret, but the front is that they're all very beautiful!. And when you try to distinguish what makes them more beautiful than the humans, you realize that a big part of it is their eyes!. They are drawn much more lushly!.

So yay!. Big eyes are lovely!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't really have an answer for it, but that is halarious!! I can't believe I never noticed that! ^^

Maybe it has something to do with emotion!. You notice the anime girls have bigger eyes and show more emotion, the boys have generally thinner eyes and they just look mad all the time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

actually,

osamo tezuka is the one to be blamed for this!. haha!.

he pioneered this "big eye" thing in the anime!.

basically, this "big eye" deal separates their animation,

from the western style!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because Osamu Tezuka (the creator of modern manga) was inspired in some of Disney's earlier films, especiall Bambi and used the big eyes designs for his own stories and the style sticked in!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think its funny that my college resident advisor who is in charge of 40+ college students is an anime fanatic!.
bit immature!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

also not meaning to be offensive i never noticed that but i think it is because its just there cartoon style like its the came with there mouths

I guess drawing them with big eyes is an easier way for them to show when they're expressing emotion!? Idk >!.< It's super cute though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think i read somewhere its because of the fact that they have tiny narrow eyes that they do the whole big eye thing, ironic huh lolWww@Enter-QA@Com

It's to make them look cute!. In Japanese culture, cuteness is popular!. (Though, not all anime has big-eyed style!. ;P)Www@Enter-QA@Com

yeah that is pretty funny!. But I guess they're not necessarily trying to portrait themselves on the cartoons!. Or I dont know lolWww@Enter-QA@Com

i've asked this question myself before!. i think they draw big eyes because it's easier to animate expressions with them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
