oh that's not so bad where are you getting your manga!?!!?!!?!!? some of mine are $12 each TT!.TT
and I hope not!!!! plus lots of it isn't available in the states yet, so how else are we supposed to get it!? like the Naruto Shippuden movie, I'd go to see it in theaters (as long as they don't dub it!.!.!.) but it isn't available yet!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Technically- yes!. If this weighs on your conscience, then you always have the option of renting/borrowing, watching it on tv, or purchasing it used!.

Personally, as long as you are putting something into the industry, I don't really care!. But people who watch a crapton of anime and never pay a dime are scum!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Let me direct you to realstuf!.com for both, although there was an ebay seller (super manga 7, I believe) where you get some good deals as wellWww@Enter-QA@Com

it'sa not steeling as long as the site is leagle!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It depends how and where you are getting it!. Are the websites legally allowed to upload the content or are they breaking the spine on their own copies, scanning and then uploading!? If it is the latter then, yes, it is stealing!.

What you could do is check out your local library for the graphic novels!. Believe it or not, where I live they have an amazing selection of graphic novels/manga!. I have read dozens of series (Mars, Ceres, Fushigi Yugi and many from Clamp to name a few) this way!. also found some American gems from my childhood like Elf Quest!.

For the movies, join Netflix!. They also have a great selection of Anime to choose from!. I was buying mine from Media Play and Best Buy and spending a fortune!. It was way too pricey!. There is no way I would have been able to buy every DVD of Kenshin, Saiyuki and Inu Yashu at 100+ episodes a piece!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The question is too brief to give a short answer!. Simply put, the US isn't the only country in the world with people that like anime/manga and as an anime fan living in Mexico, the US doesn't have it that bad at all considering if there's no comic stores in your little town in nobody's land somewhere in the US, you can easily shop online!.

For some stoopid reason though, 98% of online stores (even fairly important ones) won't ship to Mexico because their website format doesn't allow non US zip code numbers even if shipping down here isn't so hard!. I've had no problems with amazon or ebay though for some reason!.

Online shopping on local servers just isn't a big thing in Mexico and comic book stores only exist in major cities!.

However, we get far more anime on tv than in the US (like a 100 to 2 advantage or probably more) and the few manga that's being translated to spanish is sold on many street magazine stands!. Manga here is still 50% less expensive than in the US (though getting more expensive lately) and newer translations are quite good!.

On the downside, while we get tons and tons of usually uncut anime on tv, very little ever reaches to dvd!. You're then at the mercy of only enjoying anime when the tv station ever feels like showing the show!. Sometimes, a channel will only show an anime once either because they don't care or because they can't afford to show reruns!.

Therefore, if you want your spanish dubbed anime on dvd, 10 to 1 you'll have to buy a bootleg or download a tv rip from the internet and burn it into a dvd yourself (that's if your internet connection is fast enough haha)!.

I'm personally highly in favor of buying the original dvd or manga if it's available and you can afford it, but I don't condone it when people want their favorite anime on dvd!. I'd love to have several favorite series on legit dvd format myself, but it just isn't possible at this point!. And since legit dvd's are amazingly overpriced in Mexico (while the Godfather on dvd costs 16 dollars in the US, the exact same dvd on Region 4 costs 40 dollars here where salaries are a fraction of what Americans earn), it's no wonder why an average Joe would buy a bootleg dvd for 1 dollar on a market on the street!.

I don't personally agree on giving money to bootleggers, but if there's no other option and you can't download and rip the dvd yourself at home, there just isn't any choice!.

I can't say what's the situation like in South America because I've never been there yet, but from what i read on online forums and such, if I'm complaining we get few dvd releases, they rarely even get that because dvd distribution in Latin America is so backwards and primitive!.

Curiously, if a company knows how to play the game right and sells tv series in boxsets, legit anime can sell in Mexico if you do things right!. The entire Remi tv series boxset was a #1 hit in major mexican stores for several weeks and the price is quite accessible even for mexican standards!. I was really lucky in getting my boxset for a laughably cheap 25 dollars while I had the chance!. Supporting legit anime and an incredibly good and underrated 70's series!. I'd say that's quite a win!.

I've heard the classic anime Marco is also on boxset but I haven't gotten around to look it up yet!. I've always wanted to see it!. Maybe with these little success stories, the smart dvd distributors will continue to release more boxsets at good prices and of more recent anime!. I'd kill to have Magic Knight Rayearth, Utena and Escaflowne in spanish R4 dvd (not to mention the anime shown on the Locomotion and Animax channel)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
