Why do people hate anime dubs, when they've improved so much?!

Question: Why do people hate anime dubs, when they've improved so much!?
There's no doubt dubs have improved over the years, but some people think dubs will always be terrible!. Hell, I think some dubs are actually better than the original japanese language, like Cowboy Bebop for example!. I've even seen people hate dubs when most dvds these days come with both languages + subtitles!. Honestly I see no reason to hate dubs if you don't even have to listen to them!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

personally i like subbed better than dubbed just because i like the sound of the japanese voices and the english ones bother me most of the time!. But if i have to watch the dubbed i don't mind!. i think a lot of people just are prejudiced against dubbing due to poor jobs of it in some popular animes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

One of the issues is the overuse of some voice actors, whose presence in the anime becomes predictable, or at least unsurprising!. Whether the actor fits or not, it would be nice to hear more voices in roles for which said actors are commonly placed in, but the major source of consternation is that fact that dubbing often requires a simplification of the original subtitling!. If an anime is dubbed, it was license and therefore made for an international audience!. In the case of the US, at least, that means one of two likely possibilities, direct censorship, unless sold as hentai, and the removal or modification of non commonly known Japanese cultural references!. As a subtitle, since the text isn't expected to be synchronized, an anime character may speak beyond, or less, than the length of time the text is on screen!.

In other words, the dubbing might result in a dumbing down, or futher the dumbing down from the subtitling!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i just dont like the voices!.!.lol even if it is in english, there are still a lot of anime dubs that have voices that dont even match the character! =p i think that the japanese voices sound better ^__^ and i guess it kinda depends on what one you start with!.!.i mean if you watched dubs first then you'll probably like dubs better and if you watched subs first you'll probably like subs better!?! but i started with dubs and i like subs!.!.!.lol nvrmind!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Its simply because hearing some things in english will always sound corny when compared to just hearing them in japanese you can't understand
for example you could compare Narutos phrase "dattebayo!" with "believe it" from the english dubs!.

but that is just my reason i cant speak for everyone!.

and i also agree with you that some dubs do sound good but that can't be said for all of themWww@Enter-QA@Com

reason why i hate dubs:
- not all voices match the character
-americans translate some sentances wrong (most of the time but mainly on minor thing so i guess it doesnt mean too much)
-you gits americanise it only for the americans to like, so you'll find alot of people the who hate it!. (those who hate dubs more are most likely not american)
-i noticed this in the hellsing ova, americans are so bad at accent, especially british that i actually find the dub insulting

but atleast the dvd's provide you with the option of going back to japanese audio^^
and also, there are some good dubs, not many but i will admit that

the guy below also thinks/knows the death note dub is bad!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't hate it at all! I'm just so~ used to watching anime that use Japanese seiyuus!. And anime is orginated from Japan so when people watch it in Japanese with subtitles its more original and I suppose they get more "feeling" from it!. People who are just starting to get into anime will probably like dubs better!.

also, they change the dialoge a bit most of the time!. They don't pronouce the Japanese words/names right and a lot of their accents are bad!.!.!. which are one of my pet peeves since I am Asian!. You get more information if you watch Japanese version too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

its all about the language barrier!.!.!.!.some people just don't like to hear different accents that sound strange compared to what they're used to

and i agree with you, some dubs are better, while some are terrible!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think people had dubs b/c when they first came out, you can tell that the people doing them that their voice did not fit or the translation was poor!. I'm sure they are better now, but the standard is still set pretty high!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

yeah, not all of them are bad but most them are!
seriously the death note dub sucks! so is the previous one piece dub and so many other series!.!.!.
and some dubs are awesome!Www@Enter-QA@Com

ok i do not agree with u dub anime sounds fake and unreal and most people probraly like to hear the animetions speak japan because its more realistic and animeish!. okWww@Enter-QA@Com

dubs arent bad its just subs come quicker and sometimes when translated i loses the feelings in the wordsWww@Enter-QA@Com

i like them their not badWww@Enter-QA@Com
