Legitimate Question About DVD Copying?!

Question: Legitimate Question About DVD Copying!?
OK, we all know what we're talking about here, right!? What we euphemistically refer to as "making backups" or "file sharing!." I personally have no opinion either way on the issue, with the caveat that I earned a living as a musician for several years and have also acted!.

OK, I am neither encouraging, nor discouraging this practice, but I do have a legitimate question, to wit:

I live on the SD/IA border, so I have access to two different BestBuy stores!. Both stores have a HUGE selection of anime, sometimes even at competitive prices!. Anyway, in both stores the blank media (DVDs) are literally right next to the displays for anime and other DVD movies/shows!. And, again in both places, there is a Last Stop CD Shop (used DVDs) just down the block!. Now, I'm no fool, most people don't have enough "personal data" to fill a 100-pack!.!.!.so, one can only assume that BestBuy knows who they are selling what to, and for what purposes!. What is your take on this!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
consumers buying a cd/dvd is how companies make their money!. that being said, i have no issue with someone that rips a movie and exchanges it for a copy from someone else movie collection!. and its getting easier for people to get new releases with dvd ripper software and Red Box!. but this issue is older than copying a dvd, it goes back to the early 80's and people with two vcr's copying movies!. and you're right even copy protection can be gotten around with the right ripping program!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
