Question: What Is It About Drunkenness in Anime!.!.!.!?

I mean, Misato is a total alcoholic!. Yukari-sensei gets loaded regularly!. Hasegawa is a maudlin drunk!. And even Belldandy gets sauced on Coca-Cola!.
I mean, I know Japanese culture is repressed, but in cartoons too!?

Anime was never for just children thats the thing, there aren't too many live-action shows in Japan Anime's are made some for children and some for adults, in American culture pretty much anything animated is more or less directed towards children thats the difference!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
That's because of the differences in culture and attitude between the U!.S!. and Japanese and animation from other countries!.
The intelligence level of cartoons in the States tend to peter out at about age 7 or 8 whereas Japanese Anime and others can be for a much wider range of audiences!.
Of the HUGE pie chart of Japanese Anime, only a small portion contains the adult oriented Hentai or Echi stuff!.
Yet A LOT of these types of Anime find their way to the U!.S!. (and I can't help but to wonder WHY that is!?)
So, a lot of people (mostly ignorant types) come to believe most, if not all, Anime are x-rated or whatever!.
This is SO not true!. Anime, just like American movies, cover a broad spectrum of genres!.
Everything from Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Dramedies, Horror, Mystery, Romance, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, etc!. can all be found in Anime!.
Which is WHY you can have an alchy character, or the old pervert, or the innocent, yet really flirtatious girl in a sailor/ school girl outfit and it's no big deal!.
