How is anime not cartoons?!
Question: How is anime not cartoons!?
As far as all the definitions I have read,
Anime is 'Japanese Animation'
Animation meaning cartoons!.
therefor,
Anime would be cartoons!.

ANIMATION- An animated cartoon!.
From the 'Online Etymology Dictionary':
ANIME - Japanese for "animation," a term that seems to have arisen in the 1970s, apparently based on the Eng!. word!.
So by my understanding (meaning , I am not blind) and by dictionary definition (which is law) Anime is in-fact, cartoons,
just produced, written, spoken, (ECT) in a different language!.
You would call a German cartoon a cartoon, would you not !?
So my question is,
why do so many 'weeaboos', 'otakus' , 'angsty pre-teens', or just people, will deny Anime is cartoons till the death !?

I suppose you could say Anime comes under the umbrella of cartoons, but the reason people say Anime is NOT a cartoon, is because it's a very different art style to most cartoons, and people prefer not to put the two together!.
also, anime is almost a cult these days, so I think it deserves a different title!.

Wow you're really stressing yourself over this!. Yes, anime are classified as cartoons, but over the years (according to the definitions you found), I'd say that anime has become a branch of the "cartoon" genre!. When you say "anime", its connotation is that you're talking about those cartoons with that specific Japanese style that has evolved through the years!. So, answering your question, anime is that specific cartoon style that was developed by the Japanese!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Anime is usually more adult oriented or atleast for older kids!. Cartoons tend to be associated with kids and immaturity!. So eventhough an anime is a cartoon, some people feel the need to say its not just to keep from looking "childish"!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Look, the conventions of Anime and Manga are far more International than most people believe: until the "Silver Age" (the nineteen sixties), for example, you had the same mix of humorous and heroic figures in comic books like Batman Plastic Man!.
There are some specifically Japanese elements (the large eyes are a way of lowering the bridge of the nose, which if you will notice is lower in people of East Asian descent than it is in Caucasians or Afrogenics), but Japanese animation is really the best financed animation in the world -- that is the broadest variety of projects are getting funded and produced in Japan, and that is what is so different about them!.
Of course many people will play on the orientalism of them (while denying they are indulging in orientalism), but Manga and Anime are really old school cartooning brought up to date in a way even American Comic Strips are too "Individualist" to be!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
