Does one needs to go to University to have a career in animation!?
I want to be able to make animated cartoons like the ones on cartoon network or PIXAR!.

DeVry offers Game Development and 3D animation-based courses and they claim that some of their graduates get to go and train at PIXAR Studios (or even be permanently hired later)!.
Animation is a very rewarding career!.!.!. especially when you have the right skills, experience, creative drive and talent for it!. Not everyone is born with everything needed for such jobs but any one can learn them at schools that offer them!. I lost my last 3D-related job some eight years back to a disease that affected my nerves but I had my fun for over a decade doing various animated stuff starting at simple 2D until I learned to do 3D for Tv stations in my native country!.
If you think you have what it takes to be a digital artist aiming for animation studios like Cartoon Network and PIXAR, it would be best that you get the necessary education and hands-on-training for it!. It's not also a bad thing to try offering your services for free in exchange for life-changing opportunities at other studios in the similar fields!. It takes a dreamer to create things that others can marvel at!. Think everything you see in 3D, if it's PIXAR; 2D if it's for CN or Nick Toons!. Good luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com

To make a CAREER in animation one needs to be respected both as an artist and as a technician!. This can be very hard!. Obviously, if you aren't involved peripherally already (and respected) University is probably the best point of entry but if at ALL possible choose one with as many conventional drawing classes as possible AND one which teaches hardware!. Traditional animation is different from computer animation but also helpful in conceptualizing things, which you have to do if you want to learn animation!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Well I'm trying to take the same path ;D I have done a class of 3-D animation in High School and I love it!. I'm going to try to do more advance classes in college!. Maybe u should look around at art colleges or regular colleges for classes!. After i learn everything i'm going to try to look around for various studios and send them a 1-2 min short story using everything i know to try to get hired!. Well there are some speciallize schools that teaches 3d animation and other related stuff to that course!.!. In here, the philippines we already have some schools that teaches 3d animation, graphic arts, etc!.!.!.
