i cant understand this one part in the moive i asked my friend who i saw it with but they were no help just making me more confused
in the van where Lt!. gordon was with reese and the cop!.!.!.on thier way to the hospital and what not
when Lt!. gordon aked the cop why he was nervous and the cop said cause his wife was in a hospital why did he try to shoot gordon!?!?!?

They knew that the Joker had a plan to blow up the hospitals in the area, and immediately Gordon wanted all relatives/family members of cops to be taken out of the hospitals because the Joker would be able to control them, have them do what he wanted if those cops' family members' lives were at stake!.
The Joker is a sadistic man with no scruples, who knows to hit people where it hurts!. He could incapacitate the cops by threatening their loved ones!.
