Yes, this is the first year that they will not be selling tickets at the convention center!. On-line sales only!.

Comic Con has been selling out its membership passes online for the last several years!. And this year is the same!.
*I remember being the only person out of a group of friends being able to buy a pass at Comic Con '06 - everyone else was late >_<!.
The last passes for Comic Con '08 (the "Sunday" only passes, as the other days sold out earlier) sold out about a week ago!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
