If your referring to New York City itself then there is a store somewhere there that sells all anime related products!. Unfortunately I live in the south and cannot recall exactly where it is (I have not been to NY for eight years, i'm getting old ;p)!. Otherwise Best Buy has been known quite well for releasing anime dvd's on the exact day of there release so you might want to try there as well!.
