ok first lets get a few things straight!.
Don't bash someone cause they misplace a hero in the wrong universe!. Not everyone is an expert!.
Captain Marvel aka Shazam is a dc hero who is stronger than Superman while in contact with the ground!. He gets his strength directly from the planet and as long as he is touching it, he is stronger than Superman!.
As for Marvel heroes stronger than Superman!? I believe that this was speculated on in the 80s and again in the late 90s or early 2000s!. I believe that it was generally excepted by Marvel and DC that the Hulk was technically stronger than Superman when in an adrenal rush, but that Superman was generally excepted as the strongest character in either universe on a consistent basis!. Thor is close as is Hercules although neither is close enough!.
This debate will rage forever until both companies are owned and marketed by the same company!.

Captain Marvel is in Shazam comics not because Marvel owns the rights to the world Marvel (which they do not), but because Captain Marvel fans in the 70s recognized the word Shazam in reference to this character more than his actual name, hence the change in book title!. His name is still officially Captain Marvel!.
You can not copyright nor trademark a common word, which is why the Hulk is called the Incredible Hulk!. This allows Marvel to trademark the title Incredible Hulk since they were not able to trademark the word Hulk in and of its own!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

While the answer has already been put out there by others of who is as strong in Marvel's line up they forgot Silver Surfer!. also, the reason why DC cant use the name Captain Marvel to sell the comic is because Marvel first trademarked the name in the 70's after realizing that both DC and Marvel had characters with the same name, although compelety different origins!. Marvel has since re named him to Captain Mar Vell!. While DC is not able to directly use Captain Marvel to sell any merchandise they can still refer to him as Captain Marvel within the merchandise!. also, I am not sure that Thor would beat Superman as Superman can go toe to toe with Captain Marvel who has the powers of the greek gods, inculding Hercules and Zeus!. Captain Marvel would mop the floor with Thor!. ;)

Captin Marvel is DC, Just Like Superman, Get your heroes strait frist!. Note Captain Marvel is mistakenly called SHAZAM because his comics are called SHAZAM because Marvel Comics has the right to Marketing the word Marvel!.
Now with Charicters in DC is the closest in streath to these 2 in Marvel comics, it has to Be Thor who is stronger than both of them cause he is a god wear they are men, or Hulk who is weaker than Both!. I'll go with Sentry (Robert Reynolds version, not the original)
He has superhuman strength, speed, stamina, flight, and energy projection!.
He's better than Superman in my opinion, since he can implant ideas into people's minds and has brought people back to life as well!.
Then again I just can't stand Superman!.
