Gundam focuses on the realism, grittiness, and brutality of a war that could easily happen!. It has lasted longer than any anime ever created, and I'm only talking about the Universal Century Gundams!. Evangelion, is watered down, overblown, the characters are just plane bland, and the main character turns into a psychotic avatar!. And lets get this strait, Eva wouldn't even be here if if wasn't for gundam!. Eva uses monsters, religion, and Armageddon as its story, and the angels blow up into crosses, wow what an ironic piece of **** to put in an anime!. That's my opinion, express yours!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Both shows have their own disadvantages and advantages!. That's one big comparison you're doing because Gundam has a long stretch of series but Evangelion only spawned a movie and a series!. Not to mention especially because they both have huge time releases as well!.
If you wanted to compare for example, Gundam Wing, and Neon Genesis Evangelion!.!.!. that would be an accurate comparison because they were released and ended around the same time!. But since you were only comparing the Gundam series, in general, and the Evangelion series too, it's a hard comparison!.

They are two totaly different series!. If you prefer the more realistic future aspect of course you are going to like Gundam more!. Evangelion wasn't meant to be an action packed straight up mobile suit anime!. It was meant to have some depth and meaning!. I've enjoyed several of the Gundam series, granted some were just bad, but I also enjoyed Evangelion!. Just because they use mobile suits, if you can call the Evas mobile suits, doesn't mean they are anything alike!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Ah, you've really put me on the spot here! I'm a Gundam girl at heart b/c some of my first anime were Gundam series!. I like most Gundam series because they are realistic, like you said!. I can see something like that happening for real (though the mecha is kind of pushing it)!. They don't pretty up war!. Even my uncle who was in Iraq was looking at Gundam Wing and nodding as if to say, "Yep, that's basically what it was like!." Gundam laid the foundation for all subsequent mecha shows, but Evangelion broke some ground of its own!.
I felt Evangelion more!. I can identify with the characters and their struggles better than I can with most Gundam characters!. Their pain is so raw that I teared up several times during the series!. No Gundam series has ever made me cry!. I didn't care about Evangelion's mecha, if you can really call them that!.
