Shoujo ai means that there is some type of romance between female characters, but nothing explicit!. Such as that they like each other, but nothing happens between them!.

Shojo or shoujo is a Japanese word literally meaning "young girl" or "small girl"!. You've probably seen it a lot because Shoujo would refer to manga and anime that is marketed to a female audience roughly between the ages of 10 and 21!. Shojo manga has lots of settings from historical drama to science fiction to fantasy!. Shojo often has a strong focus on human emotions, romantic relationships and romance, and cute or attractive guys!. The males are drawn to appeal to females, handsome and soft and often shirtless!. Anything labeled Shoujo is made to appeal to females!. I read some shoujo titles so guys can read Shoujo titles!
The opposite is Shonen!. Shonen is aimed for young boys and young men!. The guys in Shonen manga and anime are usually tough and strong, and there is lots of action and fighting in Shonen titles!. The girls and women all have large breasts and often show their panties, to appeal to guys!. If something is Shonen, there is little romance and lots of actionWww@Enter-QA@Com

shoujo refers to manga or anime which is predominantly directed at girls/young women (see romances and the like, IE Sailor Moon) Shoujo-ai is manga or anime that is "girls love": basically it's two girls in a romantic relationship (lesbians)!. Usually it's "innocent" and never gets beyond a kiss (only telling you the definations I've read!. I've never actually read the stuff myself!.)
