If you are an anime fan, I think it means watching anime!.
It doesn't mean knowing catch phrases that are used in anime constantly like

and of course every fangirls favorite word KAWAII, not to be confused with kowaii which I'm sure is what some guys think of fangirls (especially yaoi-obsessed fangirls)

I thought the fact that I've seen 1000+ anime means I'm a fan, not my lackluster knowledge of the Japanese language!. The fact that I can watch raw anime and JDramas is due to the fact that i have studied Japanese for a few years (though I just started studying the written language) not the fact that I watch a lot of anime!.
Please don't project Wapanese stereotypes !.
