The real problem is that he would be horribly weak compared to everyone else in the story!. Shukaku gave him a huge supply of chakra, that without it, it's possible some of his bigger signature moves are no longer within his power!. also, the sand won't automatically protect him!. He can still command the sand, and as such could still block with it, but it would require his own concentration and chakra, which it did not before!. With less chakra overall, this wouldn't be a very effective use for it!. So he'd have to learn to do something he's never done before: dodge!.
