ah good question the mistake the previous guy made is that he said parallax was stronger only after having taken kyle ion is stronger by a long shot he is an almost omnipitent being where as parallax was just an over powered mortal

Well, in the time that Jordan was Parallax, he still try to do good deeds, though, many were wrong!. Hal Jordan had some control since he saved Green Arrow (When Kyle accidentally brought a younger Hal to the present and lead into a fight with Zero Hour Parallax)!. He saved the Earth during Final Night!. So, Parallax didn't have full control to turn Jordan to the dark (um, yellow) side!. I think Kyle, as Ion, would have been at a stalemate with Parallax in power, but he would have talked Hal in doing the right thing!. Hal would take what control he could and save the day or leave!.
also, it was mentioned in Sinestro Corps War, Parallax was stronger since the universe was feeling great fear!. Each emotional spectrum would be affected by what emotion is greater in the universe at that time!. So, Parallax was very strong when he possessed Kyle and fear was spreading everywhere!.
*note* I began reading Green Lantern when Hal was flying around in space and started again when Kyle gained the ring!. In the beginning, Parallax appeared as Hal Jordan absorbed all the power and being a powered being!. However, during Green Lantern: Rebirth, it was discovered Parallax was the name of the emotional being attached to the fear spectrum (yellow)!. He was a parasite that possessed individuals to spread fear and feed off it!. Ion is not Kyle, but the name of another emotional being attached to the will spectrum (green)!. This was discovered during the Sinestro Corps War!. There are other corps coming into power!. Right now, Red Lanterns have been appearing and a Orange one is out there somewhere!.
