I want to start watching it, but I want to know what I'm getting myself into!. I saw the clip of the girl stabbing herself in the head!. Is it going to get worse than that!? Are we talking about Bleach gory, Elfen Lied gory, or Sweeney Todd gory!?

No, no, definitely not Elfen Lied gory (that pretty much set the genre)!. However, I don't know if it's Sweeny Todd gory!. Sweeny Todd focuses more on blood than anything else, but Higurashi includes a number of!.!.!.various torture methods!.
Look at it this way: the most common 'death' in the series (you can't really call them deaths, can you!?) is that someone claws their throat out!. Very bloody!.
And no, Higurashi doesn't even COMPARE to Serial Experiments Lain!. That's like saying Niea_7 is like Princess Nine!. While they may have an underlieing similarity, they're mostly different!. Lain focuses more on the Wired, what it does to people, and, more specifically, what it does to Lain!. Higurashi, on the other hand, focuses on the mysteries surrounding Hinamizawa, and who REALLY killed who!. Like clue, except more violent!.
I can only suggerst that if you can stand Elfen Lied, you can watch Higurashi, no problem!. If you can only stand up to a Bleach level, then you're better off leaving this series alone!.

Hey there!. I happened to see both series, so I think I can help you out with this!. Personally, I'm not too fond about bloody stuff myself!. However, I found that this series is very ingenious and it happens to be my favorite series right now!. Anyway, the scene with Rika stabbing herself in the head!.!.!.If I recall everything I saw in the show, that's probably one of the most brutal scenes!. I'm pretty sure most of the other brutal scenes will only make you wince!. Then again, I'm not sure how you'd react to everything!. For me personally, that was the most gruesome scene to me!. I would tell you other things, but it would spoil it for you!. If you're not up for it, it's fine, but I do recommend that you give the show a try!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
