Do you think the UK Comics Industry will ever revive?!

Question: Do you think the UK Comics Industry will ever revive!?
Recently I read 'The Ultimate Book of British Comics' by Graham Kibble-White!. It brought back many happy childhood memories of reading Whizzer & Chips, Whoopee and 2000AD!.

It was depressing reading that only 2000AD, the Judge Dredd Megazine, the Beano and the Dandy remain, especially since I want my children to enjoy home grown comics as much as I did!.

Do you think the UK Comics Industry is an anachronism, or do you think it will undergo a revival!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I hate to be a pessimist, but I think that the best days for the British comics industry have already passed!. I think there may be periods during which it will wax and wane and it won't completely fade away, but it will never be as solid again as it was in the seventies!. I hope I'm mistaken, and that both countries will still get a lot of mileage out of their native comics industries!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No clue!. However it is worth pointing out that the Daily Mirror Web Site has had a revival of Garth!. Less swearing and heterosexuality, alas!. And it's set back in 1925, well before Garth first washed up on that shore in Dowling's premiere strip, sort of an Arctic Indiana Jones story!. But it suggests to me that British Comics are deeper rooted than some of us would think!. Here is a fan site's story:

Hey, even back in the Sixties James Bond was written by American Jim Lawrence and drawn by Australian Yaroslav "Larry" Horak -- you know, those perverse S&M strips!? So it's not like British Comics have ever been that pure, but while there are certainly fewer choices for good comics everywhere (I used to read Bob Hope as a kid) there still seems to be good stuff around!. (Let's not tell anyone about this shall we!? They might make a "live action" movie with lots of special effects -- and maybe try to get Brad Pitt to adopt an accent)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I sure hope so!. They did a better version of the transformers comic back in the day, and I loved that over our american writers!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
