The most powerful being in the Marvel universe is the Living Tribunal, who is even more powerful than a being who could alter reality with a thought!. However, the Living Tribunal wasn't really a hero, and essentialy wished itself out of existance at the end of it's story!. Technically, some beign known only as "the One Above All" is more powerful, but this being has not been given a name or appearance as of yet!.
The most powerful that actually definitely counts as a hero in the Marvel-verse would have to be the Phoenix, since she has the power to eat stars, and basically can't be perminently killed ever!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The most powerful super hero would be Adam Warlock when he possess the six Infinity Gems after Thanos's defeat!. He could have been the most powerful if it weren't for the Living Tribunal who sealed the six gems to prevent Warlock from becoming to powerful!. Galactus' problem is that first he announces "I'm going to destroy your planet!", then decides to construct his machine right over a city full of superhumans, who go all-out to stop him!. If he'd just land quietly in the Gobi desert somewhere and build his machine without anyone noticing, he could chow down the whole Earth in time for the Early Bird Buffet Half-Price Special!. (Given the price of interplanetary fuel these days, it's important to save pennies wherever you can!.)
