It is a complete Japanese knockoff of the classic "Count of Monte Cristo"!. I Have read the story, watched the play and watched "Gankutsuou" and the way "The Count of Monte Cristo" was completely SLAUGHTERED in this anime makes me angry enough to punt a puppy!. (maybe not really punt a puppy but you know where I'm going with this)!. The ending was a tragedy and not in the way you're supposed to enjoy!. My roomate loves this anime and I keep telling him to go watch the REAL play and gain some culture!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
