The S Symbol has stood for different things because the writers keep on changing it!.

Originally it simply was an S for Superman!. Marlon Brando came up with the idea to make the S represent Superman's family crest for the first Superman movie, and if I remember right comic book writers decided to adopt the same idea!. Later on in the comics the S was changed back to simply standing for Superman!. Another writer changed the meaning once again to make it represent the Kryptonian symbol for hope!. There was another variation of the symbol that represented the planet Krypton as a whole!.

I'm not sure if the S represents something else that is different from the previous comic book uses!. I would imagine that the writer's would eventually explain what it means on the show if they did decide to make it represent something else!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

"s" stands for snake!. a snake gave adam & eve the fruit of knowledge!. you need knowledge in order to make weapons!. you need weapons to defend yourself!. you need to defend yourself to live!.-blureyWww@Enter-QA@Com

in the story its a kryptonian symbol which looks like an "S" inside a diamond!. So eventually clark will use it to represent himself as SupermanWww@Enter-QA@Com
